Ban Gioc Motorbike Loop
2day/1night motorbiking and seeing the most impressive natural sights
Nestled in Vietnam's northeastern province of Cao Bang, Ban Gioc Waterfall is a true marvel of nature. Standing tall at 30 meters and stretching an impressive 300 meters wide, it proudly holds the title of the country's broadest waterfall. The Quay Son River, which gracefully feeds the falls, meanders through a serene landscape of verdant rice fields and picturesque bamboo groves, all surrounded by majestic limestone peaks - a spectacle that can only be described as breathtaking.
Though improved road access and transportation options have brought some attention to Ban Gioc, tourism has yet to run rampant, allowing for a peaceful and unspoiled experience. On most days, you will find yourself amongst only a few fellow explorers, foreign or domestic. With a population of just under 530,000 in the entire province, Western visitors will feel like they have the road all to themselves.
As we embark on our Chasing Waterfall Adventure, we will revel in the magnificence of the mountainous landscape peppered with charming ethnic minority villages. From the gently winding roads that cut through wide valleys to the rivers' edges, we will discover the beauty of Northern Vietnam in a way that is both exhilarating and awe-inspiring. Take a break during our journey to explore the many cycling trails, kayak, or swim in the crystal-clear waters of idyllic ponds, streams, and lakes.
This trip is perfect for those who have limited time but still yearn to experience the unique magic of Northern Vietnam in all its natural glory.

This particular pass is breathtaking, and we will need to negotiate through 14 consecutive switchbacks to ascend this essentially vertical wall of rock. The pass is also known as the "Dragon's Stairway", and we will stop here for lunch and enjoy the most epic pass in Vietnam.
After lunch, we will head to Nui Thung, This road is a historically significant site located in a highly scenic location. It was here that Uncle Ho (Ho Chi Minh) re-entered Vietnam in 1941 after being absent for 30 years and starting his struggle for an independent nation.
The road that we will be traveling on is currently very popular among riders in Vietnam. Hugging the Chinese border for much of its length, the road passes through some extremely remote landscapes. In addition to the fabulous scenery, the road itself is quite a sight to behold. A narrow asphalt lane, it’s full of contortions and knots; constantly switching back on itself as it negotiates the difficult terrain.
Throughout the ride, we will have plenty of stops for photos and rest breaks. After checking into our campsite around 5 pm. Dinner will be served at around 7 pm, and we will spend a peaceful night in the heart of the valley of Nui Thung.

Phat Tich Truc Lam Ban Gioc pagoda is the first pagoda to start construction at the Northern border position in Dam Thuy, Trung Khanh, and Cao Bang. There are great views of the Ban Gioc Waterfall and the entire karst valley from this hillside pagoda and temple.
Just 5 km away, we will have some time to visit Nguom Ngao Cave - a 2 km long cave that is a must-visit attraction when you are in Ban Gioc area.
